The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune is a premier institute dedicated to research and teaching in the basic sciences. It was established in 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (renamed Ministry of Education in August 2020). In 2012, IISER Pune was declared as an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament.

The institute invites applications from Indian nationals for the following post purely on temporary and contractual basis under funded project:

Name of the Post: Post-Doctoral Fellow

Title of the Project: “Molecular mechanisms contributing to differential loading of cohesin complexes in the genome”

Funding Agency: DBT / Wellcome Trust India Alliance

Minimum educational Qualification:

• Ph.D. in Life sciences or relevant areas, At least one first-author primary research publication in a peer-reviewed, international journal.
• Candidates should have demonstrated previous experience in mammalian cell culturing and, performing molecular and cell biology techniques.

Preference: Candidates having demonstrated experience in working with mammalian cell culture using molecular genetics, cell biological and imaging approaches, previous knowledge and experience in setting up genome-wide genetic screens as well as prior experience in the research areas of epigenetics and chromosomal biology will be preferred.

Job requirement: Incumbent is expected to do following:

• Assist in ongoing experiments using yeast as a model to perform genetic screens and assays.
• Help establish the mammalian cell culturing system in the laboratory along
  with the PI.
• Conduct research investigating the molecular mechanisms of how cohesin complexes are loaded on the chromosomes in human
  cancer cells.

Tenure of the appointment: Initially for a period of one year extendable for further period subject to satisfactory performance of the incumbent and
continuation of the project.

Consolidated emoluments per month: Rs. 55,000/- + 24 % (House Rent Allowance)

Upper age limit as on last date of application: Not more than 35 years.

Age relaxation commensurate with educational qualification/s and / or experience/s of the applicant may be considered for candidates having qualification and experience higher than the advertised with the prior approval of the competent authority.
