Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the research project entitled: “A visible light-based photocatalytic approach for the Synthesis of β-lactam scaffolds” under the Principal Investigator, Dr. Vijay Kumar Das, Department of Chemistry, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi-221005. The project is funded by Science and Engineering Research Board (Project code: P-07/1310) and is sanctioned up to 3 years. The post is temporary and co-terminus with the project.

Position: One

Fellowship (per month): Rs. 31,000/- + HRA (as per rule)

Essential Qualifications: M. Sc. degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry and Applied Chemistry with at least 55% aggregate marks. The candidate must have qualified UGC/CSIR-NET or GATE. Experience in the related field of research is preferable.

Age: The upper age limit is 28 for JRF. A relaxation of 5 years will be given to SC/ST/PH/OBC/Female candidates. All things being equal, SC/ST candidates will be preferred as per GOI rules.

Desirable Qualifications: M.Sc. degree with specialization in Organic Chemistry/Medicinal Chemistry. The candidate should have good analytical/communication skills and previous working knowledge in visible light-catalyzed Organic Synthesis. Understanding of characterization techniques is desirable.

The candidate may also enroll for PhD program in the Department of Chemistry, ISc, BHU.
