Project title: Diseases and Interventions Modelling to Action Group (DIMAG) About the project: IIT Bombay is the anchor organisation of the National Disease Modelling Consortium (NDMC). The consortium houses a secretariat and partners with various institutions for disease modelling work. The consortium serves as a domestic institutional set-up for supporting policy & programmatic decisions on infectious diseases through transmission and system
modelling. Their modelling work acts as a bridge between control & elimination of infectious diseases and strengthening integrated disease surveillance. More information about the consortium can be found at www.ndmconsortium.com

 

Essential Qualifications & Experience:
PhD in Microbiology / Community Medicine/ Infectious Disease/ Epidemiology/ Public Health with minimum 2 years relevant experience
OR
MD in Microbiology / Community Medicine/ Infectious Disease/ Epidemiology/ Public Health with minimum 6 years relevant experience
OR
MBBS with 8 years’ experience

 

Candidate should have
• A clear understanding of epidemiologic principles and methods, biostatistical methods, and general public health.
• Background knowledge on infectious disease epidemiology, including the following disease areas: malaria, tuberculosis, vaccine preventable diseases and neglected tropical diseases (lymphatic filariasis, visceral leishmaniasis).
• Experience analysing large data sets.

 

Desirable Experience
● 8 years of experience in medical epidemiology, equipped with a deep understanding of epidemiological principles and methodologies
● Prior knowledge of EpiInfo or other statistical software tools
● Ability to work in a multicultural team environment
● Ability to respond to urgent tasks given tight timelines of a project

 

Job Profile:
Conduct analytical research to support NDMC researchers in developing statistical models for the transmission of infectious diseases for prediction/forecasting of disease burdens under different interventions.- Lead systematic reviews with meta-analysis on disease related parameters- Provide insights & updates from the national & subnational public health and disease elimination programmes.
- Design, conduct and analyze epidemiological studies, yielding actionable insights to inform public health policies and interventions- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex epidemiological concepts to diverse audiences- Help in translating programmatic data and asks into modelling parameters- Contribute to drafting manuscripts and other knowledge products including presentations, policy briefs etc

 

Pay Details:
Level PR-O3 : Salary range (78800-209200) per month + other allowances as applicable.

General information:
The position is temporary for a period of 1 year till the end date of the project whichever is earlier and tenable only for the duration of the project.
The appointment is for time bound project and the candidate is required to work mainly for the successful completion of the project. The selection committee may offer lower or higher designation and lower or higher salary depending upon the experience and performance of the candidate in the
interview. Candidates called for interview will be required to attend at his/ her own expenses.
