The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) is established as an autonomous institute of national importance in 1959 by the Government of India with an initial technical and financial support from Germany. IIT Madras with a number of well equipped laboratories, advanced research facilities, sophisticated services and computing & networking capabilities, is recognized to have done exceedingly well in the fields of higher technical education, research and industrial consultancy. IIT Madras conducts academic programmes of B.Tech., Dual Degree (B.Tech. and M.Tech.), Integrated M.A, M.Tech., M.B.A, M.Sc., M.S. and Ph.D. in various disciplines. Located in about 225 hectares of natural flora and fauna, with 19 student's hostels and about 1000 faculty/staff quarters, IIT Madras is one of the greenest residential campuses in the country. Faculties of international repute, a brilliant student community, excellent technical and supporting staff and an effective administration have all contributed to the pre-eminent status of IITM.

Research Admission Schedule:

Applications are invited for Jul 2024 from eligible candidates for admission to Ph.D. and M.S. (by Research) programmes under regular/part-time/external schemes of IIT Madras from 01st March 2024. ‍

Application for MS/Ph.D. programme is invited in the Department of Medical Sciences and Technology

Application Window for (Jul 2024) IDRP will be opened from 1st March 2024.

Application Window for (Jul 2024) Data Science and Artificial Intelligence will be opened from 1st March 2024.

Instructions to the candidates:

• First time users must create an account with a valid email address. This email address will be used for all further correspondence related to the admission process. Do check your email regularly.

• Only applications submitted on this site with supporting documentation will be considered. Hardcopy applications or applications by email will not be considered.

• Candidates who are applying under reserved category should submit the required valid documents in the prescribed format at the time of applying.

• Candidates applying to multiple departments or programmes should use the same login ID and submit separate applications and pay the fees separately.

• For registering your application, create a new account or login into your existing account, then fill the necessary fields & upload the relevant documents in the application form and pay the requisite application fee to complete the application process.

• If you have questions regarding the admission process and research programs, you can refer to the FAQ and MS/PhD ordinances.

• Quote the application number with all queries related to submitted applications.

The IDRP application process is in 2 stages.
After filling up the application form on the IITM Website, project choices must be filled out in the Google form available on the IDRP website. https://sites.google.com/a/smail.iitm.ac.in/iitm-idrp/Current_Admissions.

The list of projects will be available on the IDRP Website.

Applicants who do not fill out the Google form on the IDRP website will not be considered for the shortlisting process. Please visit the IDRP website for more details.

• The candidates claiming for OBC-NCL reservation should obtain the OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate issued in the latest Financial Year in the prescribed format and upload the same in the ONLINE application. Download the sample format.

• The candidates claiming for EWS reservation should obtain the Income & Assets certificate issued in the latest Financial Year in the prescribed format and upload the same in the ONLINE application. Download the sample format.
